Persona (found through research): Software engineer actively engaged in managing personal finances, keeps putting off budgeting, has made poor investment decisions in the past, uses Google or AI to understand financial concepts, sometimes talks about money with family and friends, and finds doing taxes to be most stressful financial task.

Gmail for a physical world

My attempt to make the Gmail desktop visually more in line with a contemporary movement past "flat" design, by adding dimensionality to still-flat layout elements (to maintain readability and contrast) with strategic use of color behind for added charisma. Neumorphism ("embossing") and an overtly monochromatic look-and-feel were avoided as they have been shown to decrease positive engagement, due largely to lack of contrast.
